Diana Wallis, Liberal Democrat Euro-MP for Yorkshire and the Humber, had a meeting with Councillors from Richmondshire District Council on Saturday (30th October) to discuss their success in the recent Objective 2 Euro-funding allocations.
Richmondshire was successful in securing funding under the rural strand of Objective 2.
Commenting on the success, Diana Wallis MEP said:
"This is excellent news for farmers and the whole community in Richmondshire.
"This money from Europe will help relieve the hardship that has been felt in the farming community which has suffered so badly over the past few years.
"This money is an excellent example of how the European Union can help make a difference to the every day lives of millions of people in the UK. I hope it gets the publicity and coverage it deserves.
"This money would not be coming to Richmondshire if the UK pulled out of Europe, as some would like us to do."
