A group of Lib Dem Councillors and campaigners from across Yorkshire are departing on a fact-finding trip to Brussels this week.
The trip, organised by Lib Dem Euro-MP Diana Wallis, includes meetings with politicians from the European Parliament, officials from the European Commission and
the Committee of the Regions, and the Director of the European Office for Yorkshire and the Humber.
Commenting on the trip, Diana Wallis MEP said:
"This fact-finding trip to Brussels is a great opportunity for Lib Dems from across the region to find out more about how the European Union works.
"It is particularly fitting that this trip is taking place the week before the York Convention, which calls for regional government, is signed. The Liberal Democrats are already working at a regional level, seeking out information in Europe with a united voice.
"This is the first time such a trip has been organised and I am pleased to have been able to facilitate it. What we do here in Brussels is very relevant to local councillors' tasks and I know they will return with a better understanding of this, and share this new knowledge with their colleagues."
