Plans by the Government to extend free entry to National Museums rolled out this weekend, but only included two from the Yorkshire & Humber region, with the bulk of the museums that benefit located in London.
Lib Dem Euro-MP Diana Wallis is calling on the Government to look at extending the scheme to other Yorkshire tourist attractions.
"This scheme has apparently been a great success and is a welcome shot in the arm for the tourist industry," Diana Wallis MEP said. "According to the National Railway Museum in York, the number of people coming through their doors increased by 121% on last year.
"But if the scheme is so successful, surely it should be extended to other Yorkshire tourist attractions such as The Earth Centre in Doncaster, Magna in Rotherham and The Deep when it opens in Hull next year.
"Although two places in the Yorkshire region benefited from the Government's new policy, most of the museums in question are in London.
"I would like the Government to look at extending the scheme to millennium projects and other museums in Yorkshire and the Humber that could also do with some assistance."
