Ban on Happy Hours - 'no chance of success'

A proposal to Euro MPs to ban pub Happy Hours has no chance of succeeding, says Diana Wallis, Leader of the UK Lib Dems in the European Parliament.

Diana Wallis, also her party's spokesperson on Legal Affairs, says, "the proposal, instigated by a lone Finnish Green, will not get enough votes to be enforced."

"The Finns have a high death rate due to alcohol related causes and are sensitive to such matters. However pub Happy Hours are an integral part of life across Europe and are here to stay. Just because the Finns didn't get to the World Cup is no reason why everybody else shouldn't enjoy themselves!"
