EU Constitution talks: 'A shambles - no way to treat Europe's citizens'

Speaking from the European Parliament in Strasbourg, local Euro MP Diana Wallis slammed government leaders for their failure to agree an EU constitution over the weekend at the Brussels summit.
She said, "This was an absolute shambles and no way to plan the future government of Europe. I hope our citizens see through this nonsense.'
'By contrast to the shenanigans last week, European parliamentarians and other representatives have worked quietly and diligently over the last 18 months to produce a progressive draft constitution that has won broad support.'
'This serious work has just been laid waste by certain heads of governments behaving like squabbling school boys who instead of debating the serious issues were, according to reports emerging over the weekend, encouraged to talk about women and football and eat ice cream!'.
