Liberal Democrat Euro MP for Yorkshire & the Humber, Diana Wallis, visited Pickering Wednesday 3 November. She spoke at the Pickering Rotary Club lunch at the Forest & Vale Hotel on EU enlargement and the way forward.
Later in the day Ms. Wallis MEP met Farndale farmer Richard Potter to talk about difficulties facing sheep farming particularly proposed changes to the implementation of the CAP reforms in the UK as the affect hill farmers.
Ms. Wallis also discussed the Farndale United Parishes Plan with local residents as they look to implement the findings of their questionnaire to provide further community services.
Later in the afternoon, Ms. Wallis met staff at R.V. Roger Ltd Nurseries in Pickering to look at the apples exhibition and talk about the challenges facing apple growers in keeping alive the old varieties of English apples and other fruit.
In the evening she formally opened the Liberal Democrat's Constituency Office at the Pickering Liberal Club, Smiddy Hill.
