Diana Wallis MEP, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on the Legal Affairs Committee will attempt this week to pursue an answer in the European Parliament for progress in the Lloyds Names affair.
Ms. Wallis said today in Brussels, "Whatever one may think about the merits of the affair, it is unacceptable that we now find ourselves still waiting for a reply from the President of the Parliament nearly eight months on from when the Legal Affairs Committee recommended legal action against the Commission."
Diana Wallis MEP is pushing for the Commission to be taken to the European Court of Justice for failing to take on the UK Government despite years of apparent systematic regulatory failure.
She also said, "If the President of the Parliament does not want to take legal action he has to answer us clearly and politically. Then everyone will know where they stand and we can decide either to try again or pursue other options, like a Committee of Enquiry. The present silence and impasse is entirely unacceptable both towards politicians and petitioners."
