Local Liberal Democrat Euro MP Diana Wallis has expressed her anger at the reported £1.2 million pay off for former Unilever boss Niall Fitzgerald. (Unilever owns the Birds Eye brand)
Diana Wallis MEP, who took up the case with owners Unilever when the Birds Eye factory in Grimsby was set for closure said,
"This is an incredibly cynical move by Unilever and must anger the very many workers without jobs since the closure of the Birds Eye factory."
"Is it any wonder that many bosses have the fat cat tag hung round their necks?"
Notes
The Independent (25 March p. 38) reported that former co-chairman of Unilever, Niall Fitzgerald, was the company's highest paid director last year receiving a total pay of £3.4 million pounds including an additional £1.2 million to 'quit early'.
