Pupils from Filey School got an inside view of the workings of the European Parliament when they met local Liberal Democrat Euro MP Diana Wallis in Brussels today, Tuesday.
The pupils, all language students from the school's sixth-form, along with three members of staff, popped in for the day to talk to Diana Wallis MEP and hear about her work in Yorkshire and in the European Parliament. They also heard from language specialists in the European Commission, listened to a presentation from one of Diana's assistants in French and had a look at the Parliament's main chamber, the hemicycle. They finished with lunch in the Parliament's cafeteria.
Diana Wallis MEP, Liberal Democrat for Yorkshire & the Humber, who spoke at Filey School in October, said:
"They are lovely group. The staff and students alike at Filey School work hard at their European and other international links and it was great to be able to speak to them in Brussels and give them a taste of my life in the Parliament and how useful their language learning is."
