Diana Wallis comments on Swiss referendum result

Diana Wallis MEP, President of the European Parliament's Switzerland delegation has commented on the result of today's referendum which gave a 'Yes' to the proposal that Switzerland should pay a billion Swiss Francs per year to eastern European countries of the EU as part of the enlargement process.
Diana Wallis, speaking from home in England, said:
"I would like to congratulate the Swiss on their achievement in having three positive votes on EU matters.
"A particular achievement in this vote is the willingness of the Swiss to help Eastern European countries on their way financially.
"We should now look forward to a period of stabilisation in terms of EU-Swiss relations. I am especially looking forward to the European Commission office opening in Bern shortly."
