Three Year 13 students from Wakefield Girls' High School have spent the week shadowing Diana Wallis, their local Liberal Democrat Euro MP, in the European Parliament in Brussels.
The three students, Rachel Burnham, Sophie Cadman and Julia Swift, all studying A level Politics, were able to follow Diana Wallis' work as a way of gaining broader knowledge of what Members of the European Parliament do. As well as sitting in on various political and legislative committees, they were able to observe the first session of the Plenary of the Parliament which Diana Wallis chaired in her new role as Vice President.
Diana Wallis said
"They were a great group and in their short time with us they made a real contribution.
"I am sure the knowledge they gained over the week will stand them in good stead for their A level Politics and indeed beyond."
