Local Euro MP, Diana Wallis, has welcomed the proposal that England's primary school children should have to learn a language from the age of seven.
Diana Wallis MEP, the President of the Institute for Translation and Interpreting, said:
"This makes a lot of sense. As we all know young children have a much greater ability to learn languages. The rest of Europe starts at seven and it's about time we did. I just wonder why it has taken so long to cotton on."
"Having the ability to speak other languages will really open up Europe's Single Market for British people whether it be for commercial or personal reasons."
