Wallis - Backing for 'open skies' deal but it needs to go further

'open skies' deal needs to go furtherLocal Liberal Democrat Euro MP, Diana Wallis, has welcomed the "open skies" aviation deal struck today between the European Union and the United States aimed at liberalising transatlantic air travel.

Diana Wallis said:

"This deal struck today between the EU and the USA will provide greater competition amongst airlines. It will be of benefit to European passengers and is therefore certainly welcome.

"However, this is only the beginning. European airlines are still not able to fly US domestic routes. This has to change. Complete liberalisation must be the goal within the near future if European consumers are to reap the real rewards."
