Diana Wallis, the Liberal Democrat Euro MP for Sheffield has written a joint letter to Michel Platini the head of European football's governing body, UEFA, to investigate whether West Ham should have been docked points for breaching rules over the signings of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.
Along with Councillor Paul Scriven, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Sheffield City Council, Diana Wallis MEP has written the letter to UEFA head Platini.
Diana Wallis said:
"I think there are enough unanswered questions about this whole saga that the governing bodies of football need to take a closer look. I see that FIFA is doing exactly that but as this falls under European jurisdiction also, I want UEFA to do its own investigation. That is why Paul Scriven and I have written this joint letter to Michel Platini."
She went on:
"Even though I have a background as a lawyer I can see that it would be difficult to make a case but clearly there are many people with experience of these matters who should take a closer look."
