Diana met with members of the York Branch of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign on Thursday. The group was keen to discuss ways of further raising awareness of the terrible sufferings of the Palestinian people.
Whilst some support a trade boycott against Israel, Diana made it clear that she would prefer positive choices in favour of Palestinian goods and services, underlining the need as far as possible to try to keep Palestine open to all international trade and help.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of a trip to the European Parliament to further highlight issues by meetings with key MEPs from other countries. Diana promised to progress this, if possible on a cross party basis.
She said, "We have to ensure that MEPs are clearly aware of the situation in Palestine and hearing from members of a group like this could clearly be pivotal and influential."
