Yorkshire and the Humber Euro MP, Diana Wallis, has joined the majority of her Liberal Democrat MEP colleagues in supporting Nick Clegg over Chris Huhne in the contest for the Liberal Democrat leadership.
Not permitted to express a preference during the party's process for the selection of Euro-candidates for 2009, MEPs are now free to do so. Diana Wallis MEP has joined five further Liberal Democrat MEPs, as well as the majority of MPs, who have come out in support of Sheffield Hallam MP Nick Clegg.
Diana Wallis said:
"I worked with both Nick and Chris, as they both did a term as Members of the European Parliament. Both candidates are highly able. But my experience of working with both for over five years has convinced me that Nick's character is the better suited to building and leading a team which stems, in part, from a compassion which is far less evident in Chris".
