Local Euro MP, Diana Wallis, will meet the UK telecoms regulator OFCOM in Brussels today, Wednesday 28 November, to quiz them on their stance towards KComm's monopoly of broadband provision in Hull and the rest of East Riding.
Diana Wallis MEP has taken up the issue of broadband provision with the EU Competition Commissioner after a huge number of complaints from local users about KComm's monopoly of broadband provision.
Ahead of the meeting Diana Wallis said:
"OFCOM's report dated 13 November on national broadband provision in the UK does give mention of the Hull situation in passing, noting that they have received complaints from Hull residents about the lack of choice of provider. However, the report then goes on to say that they do not consider it necessary to take any further or different action from that currently undertaken to ensure the entry of other competitors into the Hull market.
"That is clearly not having the desired effect at present and unless something changes I cannot see how things can get better for consumers in Hull and the surrounding area.
"This is still unfinished businesses and I shall be quizzing them closely today."
