An analysis of last week's local election results in Yorkshire & the Humber points to further Liberal Democrat success says the party's Euro MP for the region.
Diana Wallis MEP said:
"There is no doubt last week's local election results were very good for the Liberal Democrats in this region. As well as winning outright control of Hull and Sheffield and strengthening our position as the largest party on NE Lincs we made gains elsewhere.
"At a local level three party politics is alive and well in this region. The results mean that we would double the number of MEPs in next year's European Parliament elections from 1 to 2 and also more than double the number of MPs we have in this region, winning additional seats in Hull, Bradford and Sheffield."
