Diana gains support for National Judge Report at Bordeaux conference

Speaking alongside EU Commissioner Barrot and French Justice Minister, Mrs Racida Dati, at a conference on education of national judges in Bordeaux today, Diana Wallis said that the three EU institutions were pushing in the same direction in responding to her report on the role of the National Judge in the European Judicial system. Her own initiative report, resoundingly passed by the European Parliament at its July meeting in Strasbourg, surveyed the views held by national judges on the EU's legal system.

Lobbyists should join transparency register says Diana Wallis MEP

Since the European Commission's voluntary register for lobbyists was opened on 23 June 2008, to date, 174 organisations have registered with the Commission, providing a certain amount of financial disclosure. However, only 9 public affairs consultancies have registered with the Commission. The bulk of registrants are professional organisations and NGOs.

Diana Wallis attends anniversary of Srebrenica genocide

Vice President of the European Parliament, Diana Wallis MEP travelled to Bosnia on Friday to attend the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica and Žepa which occurred in 1995. An additional 330 identified and previously missing persons were buried, 13 years after the massacre, at the Srebrenica-Poto?ari Memorial and Cemetery to Genocide Victims.

MEPS ADOPT TIGHTER CONTROLS ON ASSISTANCE EXPENSES

Last night (9 July) the European Parliament's Bureau approved the last part of the implementing measures for the Statute for MEPs. This part concerned "assistance from personal staff". The adoption of the implementing rules clears a vexed issue ahead of next European elections in 2009.

DIANA WALLIS MEP CALLS FOR BETTER EU TRAINING FOR NATIONAL JUDGES

Diana Wallis MEP's' own-initiative report on "the Role of the National Judge in the European Judicial System" was overwhelmingly adopted today by the European Parliament. The report follows over a year of detailed investigation and dialogue with national judges, national authorities and European institutions.
