Diana Wallis MEP has been elected as President of the European Parliament's influential Delegation to Switzerland, Iceland and Norway and Joint Parliamentary Committee to the European Economic Area.

Diana Wallis said, "It will be a hugely interesting time to chair this Committee as debate surrounding the three countries's relationship with the EU will intensify over the next few years, particularly in Norway with the approaching General Election. The EU will be watching closely to see if any of this debate leads to changes in the relationship."

Ms. Wallis has been Ist Vice-President of the Delegation to Switzerland, Iceland and Norway since her election in 1999.

She has a second edition of the book 'Forgotten Enlargement: Future EU Relations with Iceland, Switzerland and Norway' to be published in October by the Centre for Reform.
