From the Humber to the Baltics - Euro Trade gets Boost from Successful Conference12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 28th Oct 1999 Diana Wallis, Lib Dem Euro-MP for Yorkshire and the Humber, delivered the closing speech to AgriNord today at the Jarvis Hotel, Hull. The AgriNord Conference is held annually in different location across the EU. Food industries in Northern Europe have the opportunity to hold meetings and forge links with businesses from across Europe. Nearly 300 such meetings took place, far exceeding all expectations. Diana Wallis said of the conference: "It is wonderful that this event took place in this sub-region. "Several years of planning went into the event, and we must pay tribute to the Local Authorities through the Humber Forum and the European Information Centre for making it such a success." Businesses in attendance came from all over Northern Europe, from Poland to Germany, from beer makers to fish-finger manufacturers. "This is Europe at its best; exactly what the European Union is all about." Diana continued, "Businesses had excellent opportunities to meet and forge future trade links reinforced by social contact."
